Turner Bros. has developed a program of successive levels of training and qualification required to operate larger and more technical equipment called the Turner Progression Matrix. For each skill set (crane lifting, operations and rigging) the company has created training modules to address specific skill requirements, and through classroom training, testing and documentation, the company is able to certify the capabilities of its operators.
- Crane operators must have National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certificates.
- Must complete several hundred hours of documented crane operation and must pass a written test before becoming Turner Bros. certified.
- Operators are required to perform field tests for each specific crane model before becoming certified, as part of equipment based training.
- Operation of the Company’s largest and most complex cranes involves years of experience operating smaller cranes in a training progression.
